Pre-save Shimmy on Spotify and we'll give you a tape maybe
Philly's Davey and the Chains' have a new album. It's called Shimmy. Ten songs of dreamy, shimmery lo-fi pop, filtered through Davey's deep appreciation of soul, disco, and dub. Think Fleetwood-Mac-meets-Ariel-Pink-meets-William-Onyeabor. That sounds sick, we know, that's what we're saying. Although it gets released to the World Wide Web next Friday, September 14th, it's been circulating around the Tank Beach Offices for the last year and has been everyone's Favorite Album of 2018. Although we've always loved the music Davey makes, this album is something special.
David T Ulrich has been making music as Davey and the Chains for the last five years. He's a prolific Philly mainstay, having collaborated with members of Modest Mouse, Dr. Dog, Empath, Ruby the Hatchet, Dark Web, and Banzai Cliff, just to name a few. Davey's the real deal. A musician's musician. And his new album of feely, joyous kaleidoscopic pop is going to knock your socks off or your money back*
